One of my favorite things about going to the movies are the trailers. It's really a mini-movie. Hopefully, it doesn't give away all the best jokes or the entire plot. Looking right at you, trailer for Free Willy. ;-)The same can be said for book trailers. I haven't really looked at them before this past week. I now realize I made one when I did a media review as a part of Summer Reading. Using Windows Media Maker and narrating it through my laptop, it wasn't so bad. The hardest part was the voice over and getting it to the point of good enough.
Book Trailers can provide a great hook. Author interviews can also provide another hook for a reader. I really enjoyed Libba Bray's interview for her book Going Bovine. Featuring an author walking around in a cow suit, the video made want to take a look at her book. The book trailer's pretty good too.
Haven't gotten to the book yet, even though it's won the Printz award. The new Hunger Games, Mockinjay, is the must read for this week. at least as soon as I get my hands on it.
Show me a good trailer, and I'll see the movie. Show me a good trailer for a book, a hook that'll get me into the first page, and I'll read it.
BTW, I'm a big fan of fan made work. Here's one someone made for the Mockinjay as referenced earlier
yeah yeah yeah! booktrailers are my fvorite! was the trailer you made fun to do or really hard using Movie Maker?
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty easy once I figured out what I wanted to do. When I've used movie maker in the past, I had problems with the file crashing. That didn't happen this time. It would have made it a lot less fun.
